There are 2 simple ways to message parents:
Option 1: ClassDojo Broadcasts
What is a ClassDojo Broadcast?
● ClassDojo Broadcasts are a simple way to send mass alerts to all the parents connected to
your class
What happens when a parent responds to a ClassDojo Broadcast?
● All parent responses to ClassDojo Broadcasts are private between you and the parent. Other
parents will never be able to see your conversation.
How have other teachers used ClassDojo Broadcasts?
● To send class-wide announcements in seconds!
Option 2: Direct Messages
What is a Direct Message?
● Direct Messages are a simple, private way to communicate with individual parents.
How have other teachers used Direct Messages?
● To send positive feedback home
● To remind a parent about an upcoming deadline
● To address a concern
General questions
How do I send a message to parents?
● Simple! Just download the ClassDojo app (version 2.5+), login, click on the class the parent’s
child is in, and click “Messaging!” Or select the “Messaging” page from the class on your laptop
or desktop computer.
What happens when I send a parent a message?
● Great question! When you send a ClassDojo message to a parent…
○ The parent will receive an email letting them know they have a new message. They can use
the link in the email to log into their ClassDojo parent account and view the message.
○ If the parent has the ClassDojo app, they will also receive a push notification - it acts like a
text message! They can log into the ClassDojo app to view the message.
Can I see if parents have read a Broadcast or Direct Message?
● Yesyoucan!BecauseClassDojoMessagingusespushnotificationsandemailtodelivermessages

Can parents see if/when I’ve read a message?
● Nope! We are former teachers and want to make sure this tool is as effective as possible for
you. Our Read Receipts feature is for you only - parents cannot see if or when you’ve read their
messages.
Will these messages cost me or the parents money?

I’m outside of the US, can I use ClassDojo Messaging?
● Yes,ClassDojoMessagingworksineverycountryintheworld!
How do I get parents set up to receive ClassDojo messages?
● Getting parents set up only takes a minute! Just open the app and go to your messaging screen.
When you click on a parent who is not set up yet, you’ll see a button that sends invitation codes
to your email - download them from there, and send them home!
● If you log into www.classdojo.com from your computer, you can also invite parents using their
email adress.
● Once parents have their invite code or an email invite, getting signed up is a breeze.
● If parents run into any issues, our Parent Support Team is there to support them 24/7 :)
