Freshmen
Chicago State University is test-optional. CSU will review
applications based on college preparatory coursework,

Transfer
A minimum of 24 semester hours or an AA or AS degree from
a regionally accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2./4.0

Freshmen
Eastern Illinois University is test-optional. EIU will review
applications based on college preparatory coursework and
cumulative GPA. Students with a 2.8 GPA or higher will
qualify for standard admission. Students with below a
2.8 GPA will go through a holistic review process. Each
application will require students to submit ocial high
school transcripts for review.
Transfers
GPA of 2.0/4.0 with 24 or more college-level semester
hours.
GPA of 2.0/4.0 at most recent school of attendance.
Students with less than above semester hours must also
meet freshman criteria.
Honors College
The Honors College is available to new rst-time freshmen and
transfer students. First-time freshmen who are admitted
via our test-optional admission with a 3.75 cumulative GPA
will be considered for the Honors College. First-time freshmen
who are in the upper 10% of their high school graduating class
or a 3.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and an ACT composite
of 26 or higher, SAT of 1240 or higher. Transfer students with
a minimum GPA of 3.50 will be considered for the Honors
College.

Governors State University (GSU) oers majors and courses to students at all levels, from undergraduate through doctoral
programs. GSU is also committed to serving general studies students, community college graduates, transfer students, returning
adults and commuting students as they pursue their education and career goals.
Students have several options for pursuing a bachelor’s degree at GSU. They can apply to begin their degree program as a
freshman, transfer to GSU after completing coursework at another institution, continue their education at GSU after a delay, or
enroll in the Dual Degree Program. The Dual Degree Program enables students enrolled full time in one of GSU’s 17 partner
community colleges to complete their associate degree and enroll at GSU to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Freshmen
This classication is for students who are currently attending
high school or have graduated from high school but never
attended college or have less than 24 semester hours from
a regionally accredited institution. Special consideration will
be applied when considering military veterans, international
students, home school students, and GED earner applicants.
Requirements-Applicants must:
1. Have graduated or will graduate from high school with a
minimum 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
2. Submission of oical ACT or SAT scores is optional.
Test scores will only be considered if it is helpful to the
students.
3. Applicants are reviewed holisticly for admissions. The
holistic review process may take into account a wide range
of factors, including:
a. GPA, GPA in college prep courses, the strength of
curriculum, standardized test scores (ACT/SAT)
. b. Personal letter of application, writing sample, student’s
demonstrated interest, letters of recommendation
(counselor, teacher, community leader, etc.), class rank,
subject test scores (AP/IB), extracurricular activities (clubs,
student government, athletics, employment, etc.)
c. Non-cognitive and personal attributes including
intellectual/creative accomplishments, linguistic
background, intellectual curiosity, leadership ability,
maturity, demonstrated commitment to the community,
cultural vitality, and behaviors and attitudes that
demonstrate self-awareness, social engagement, and
professionalism.
4. Must meet the minimum high school subject requirements
of 4 years of English, 3 years of Math, 2 years of Lab
Sciences, 2 years of Social Sciences, 2 years of Fine Arts
or 2 years of a Foreign Language and 2 years of Elective
Academic Units.
5. 5. Applicants are to submit ocial high school transcript(s)
or ocial GED. Final high school transcripts must be
submitted after graduating or freshman applicants will
be unable to begin courses.

Transfers
For academic year 2023-2024, a minimum of 24 semester
or 36 quarter hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or an AA or
AS degree from a regionally accredited institution and good
standing at the last institution attended are required. Students
not meeting the above criteria may petition for admission
under certain circumstances. Specic majors have established
selective criteria above the university minimum. Refer to the
Governors State University Catalog for specic major criteria.
GSU has rolling admission for most undergraduate programs.

UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT
The Undocumented Student Resources (USR) Oce oers
comprehensive support. We provide life advising, advocacy,
and resources to undocumented students, and we outreach
to community organizations and to potential students and
their families. All talent and merit based scholarships as well
as NEIU Foundation scholarships are available to eligible
students regardless of citizenship status, this includes the
merit scholarships oered through the Honors Program and
the merit scholarships oered to eligible transfer students.
The Aspire Scholarship and the Undocumented Student Fund
are exclusively for undocumented students. NEIU is one of
two public university partners with The Dream.US in Illinois.

We no longer consider ACT or SAT scores for general
admission, admission to the University Honors program, or

Transfer

Must graduate from high school before beginning classes,
exceptions are made for students participating in the High
School Concurrent Enrollment program and for those who

WIU considers applications on a rolling admissions basis.
However, to be eligible for automatic admission scholarships
the deadline is May 1 for Freshmen and August 1 for Transfer.
Students can apply with the WIU application or the Common
Application.
Freshmen
WIU primarily considers high school GPA in admissions
decisions. Additional information may be requested. Students
will be admitted to WIU if they have earned a 2.75+ GPA (4.0
scale) or graduate in the top 10% of their high school class at
an accredited Illinois public or private high school.
Transfer
Applicants who have earned 24 or more semester hours of
college work will be considered for admission on the basis
of college performance only. Applicants who have earned
fewer than 24 semester hours must meet freshman admission
standards. A cumulative 2.0 GPA for all hours attempted from
all institutions is required. Students must be in good standing
at the last college/university attended.
Centennial Honors College

Eligibility for Centennial Honors College:
Entering freshmen must have a 3.75+ GPA (4.0 scale) or meet
