Northeastern Illinois University assumes no financial responsibility for international students. All international students are required to show proof that funds are
guaranteed for the first year of study to obtain an I-20 and during the visa appointment. Please ensure that adequate funding will continue to be available from the
same, or an equally reliable source, for subsequent years. The following figures indicate the minimum amount needed for one academic year (fall & spring terms,
minimum full-time enrollment) plus twelve months of living expenses. Estimated costs may be higher or lower than shown. An international student on an F-1 or J-1
visa cannot sponsor another international student. You can have more than one sponsor to make up the total amount required below. This form must be filled out by
you and each of your sponsors.

Copy of an Affidavit of Support Form I-134 is required. Get at
https://www.uscis.gov/i-134.
Have your sponsor who is a U.S citizen or US Permanent Resident write a typed
letter indicating what they will be sponsoring you for (i.e., tuition and/or living
expenses). They should also state their relationship to you (e.g., sibling, friend,
etc.), and the period of time they will support you.

If you have family who are not U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents but who will
sponsor your housing & living expenses, have them provide:

This financial statement and attached supporting document(s) cannot be dated more than six months prior to the date of
receipt by the Office of International Programs (OIP) at Northeastern Illinois University. Scanned original copies can be sent
once the student is accepted to the university. Send ONLY Legible Scanned PDF Copies. Students must submit original
financial statement and bank letter upon arrival to the U.S. to OIP. They will become property of the University and will not be
returned. Please make copies of all application documents, including your financial documents, for yourself. Copies will not be
provided to you by the OIP.
