This newsletter provides you with all the things you need to know and be aware of regarding participating in one of our
ensembles this Fall 2023. Please read through this material, scan the QR codes where needed, and let us know if you have
any questions. You can also check out the K-State Bands web site for more updated and detailed information pertaining to
all ensembles. We are here to help you!

Marching Band:
Marching Band wind auditions will take place
during the rst two days of Band Camp. You
will be sent an extensive newsletter in May
which will include an online registration link.
After completing the registration, we will
send you the password to download the
music from our web page so you can prepare
for the playing audition. We will teach you
our style of marching when you arrive for
Band Camp. Cuts will be made in all sections
the second night of auditions. We will have
a set marching band with a number of
alternates. The alternates are band members
who require extra assistance to develop their
marching/playing skills. Our sta will work
with these members to develop their skills to
earn a spot in the block band.
Drumline:
The Marching Band Drumline auditions
will take place on Saturday, May 20
th
, 2023,
from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The auditions
will take place in McCain Auditorium. For

Concert Ensembles:
Audition sign up times will be posted on the
bulletin board outside the Band Oce (226
McCain). The six to ten minute auditions will
take place during the rst week of classes.
Excerpts will be available in August for
students to prepare. Scales and sight-reading
will also be required. Audition results will be
posted a few days after the auditions.
Percussion for Concert Ensembles:
Auditions include the performance of
prepared solos and/or etudes on snare
drum, keyboard percussion, and timpani.
Sightreading will also be a component of
the audition process. Check the bulletin
board outside room 130 McCain for audition
information and times. Percussionists must
demonstrate skills in 2-3 areas (keyboard,
timpani, multiple percussion, concert snare
drum, etc.). If you have questions, please
